Rider Qualification per NRHA 2012 Affiliate Championships Rules:
1. For an affiliate to qualify a rider for a class, that specific class must be offered in at least three (3) circuit shows.  There is no minimum or maximum number of shows that a rider must attend.
2. A rider may qualify in only one region and for only one affiliate.
3. The rider must be a member of their local affiliate at the time of competition for points to count toward regional finals qualifications.
4. ALL EXHIBITORS MUST HAVE A PRIMARY AFFILIATE DESIGNATION REGISTERED WITH THE NRHA OFFICE NO LATER THAN AUGUST 1 OF EACH YEAR. This designation must be registered on paper form. Once a designation is registered, it will apply from year to year unless changed by the exhibitor in writing to the NRHA Affiliate Department. Changes must be in place no later than August 1st. those exhibitors that have qualified in the top tenand have designated by August 1st will be guaranteed their qualifying position. Any new designations or changes to current designations received after August 1st will be accepted until 15 daysprior to the entry closing date for respective Regional Affiliate Finals and exhibitors will be allowed to participate in the current year classes. Riders are only eligible to compete in classes they qualified for if there are vacant qualifying positions. If all tope ten qualifying positions are filled any new designations or changes made to the deisgnations after August 1st will become effective for the next year's qualification period. Click here for the Affiliate Designation Form.
5. The affiliate membership lists will be used to determine a horse and rider qualification within an affiliate.
6. Points are to be calculated on a one horse/one rider format.
7. Points will be awarded based on the number of horses actually competing in the class, i.e., if fifteen (15) horses compete, first place will be awarded 15 points, 2nd place - 14 points, etc.  Points will be calculated on horses actually competing, excluding the horses entered but scratched.  Zeros and no scores will not be awarded points. Horses with no points do not qualify for RAF competition.
8. The top ten (10) horse and rider combinations plus ties from each class offered in a circuit qualify for the regional affiliate finals. Substitutions of a rider or horse for any reason shall not be allowed in the Regional Finals or the North American Affiliate Championships.
9. Each NRHA affiliate will be responsible for keeping up with the affiliate standings throughout the show year and will submit the standings for their affiliate 30 days prior to the affiliates respective RAF. The NRHA will then verify the standings and post a final qualifiers list on the NRHA website.

A horse may qualify for more than one class with the same or different riders.  For example, an open rider may qualify the horse in the open and a non-pro rider may qualify the horse in the non-pro class. A rider may not show more than three horses per class regardless of the number of horses that rider may have qualified for the affiliate finals. Also, two riders may not ride the same horse in the same class. For more on the NRHA Affiliate Program, please visit www.NRHA.com.

Any questions relating to these qualification procedures should be addressed to the Affiliate Shows Chairperson for RMRHA. For the year 2012, that individual is Catherine Irvin (phone - 303-337-9321 and email - cirvin9901@aol.com).

RMRHA will use an exhibitor's best five of the six qualifying shows to calculate their point standings for year-end awards. Year-End award winners will be determined by total points earned in each division using the following point system: 10 points for placing first, 9 points for second place, 8 points for third place and so forth down through 1 point for the 10th place horse in a class.  If an exhibitor shows in all 6 year end shows, the top 5 results will be used and other results will be dropped.

If a horse is owned by an "entity", e.g., LLC, partnership, corporation, syndicate, etc., that "entity" must have a RMRHA membership in order for the horse to qualify for year end awards.  Individuals of that entity are not required to have an individual membership, unless that individual competes on the entity owned horse and wishes to have the points earned count towards the year end standings.  If a horse is owned by two or more individuals (John Smith, Mary Smith and Bill Jones), each individual must be a member of RMRHA to have the points earned count towards year end standings.

RMRHA membership categories include: Individual or entity membership - $30 per calendar year; Youth membership - $10 per calendar year. RMRHA memberships run from January 1 through December 31 of each year.  RMRHA does not offer family or couple memberships.

A horse may qualify for more than one year-end award with the same or different riders.  For example, an open rider may qualify the horse in the open and a non-pro rider may qualify the horse in the non-pro class.

The Affiliate Shows Chairperson is also responsible for tracking points earned for year-end award winners. Any questions relating to these qualification procedures should be addressed to the Affiliate Shows Chairperson for RMRHA. For the year 2012, that individual is Catherine Irvin (phone - 303-337-9321 and/or email - cirvin9901@aol.com).
